Written Assignment – Personal Change Plan: SMART Goal
This week you will
have the opportunity to create your personal change project SMART goals.
The Personal Change
Project is an individual project in which you will identify a desired
small-scale personal change to implement this term. It involves:
Week 3: The
development of an initial SMART goal and summary of expected steps for
implementing the small scale change over the course of the next few weeks.
The specific small scale personal change that you would like to
make over the next three weeks (in SMART terms).
Following the concept that it takes 21 days to form a new habit,
you should have time to implement a positive new behavior or habit that will
increase your personal or work-related effectiveness.
Specifically, you will create a personal change goal (that you
believe you can work on over the next few weeks) that is–
Specific – clearly
details your end result, along with any weekly (or daily) milestones along the
Measureable – includes
behaviors that can be assessed outwardly (not just something you will think
Action Oriented –
focused on new behaviors you can demonstrate, actions you can take, or results
you can achieve
Realistic – a goal
where you can achieve results over the next few weeks. Not something too large
(like running a marathon) or too small that it is not motivating.
Time-phased – includes
specific reference to the progress you hope to achieve along the way, and the
end date (during Week 6) that you will identify to make your final assessment
as to your progress.
