There are Two Parts to the advocacy project for this course.
Both are based on the case study of Katy Adams.
The purpose of both of these is to provide skills to assist your patients with their medically related needs.
The first part is to state the non-medical problems of the patient and then, using course content and other resources, what you can do to advocate for her. Cite when appropriate.
0 points will be given for any response that is directly copied and pasted from a web resource.
1. Identify 3 non-medical problems Katy Adams is experiencing and corresponding ways you could assist her.
(Total of 13 points:) 1point for the problem and 4 points for the corresponding assistance.
DO NOT USE DENIAL OF MEDICATION AS ONE OF THE NON-MEDICAL ISSUES
The second part Submit a letter of advocacy on behalf of the patient in the case study to her insurance company on the denial of medication. (17 points)
This is a one or two-page letter (not double-spaced) and the grade will be based on how persuasively you advocate and how professionally the letter is written ( this includes grammar, format, etc.).
Please do NOT address the clinical trial- this is not an aspect of the assignment
FOR THE LETTER, YOU MUST USE A PROFESSIONAL LETTER FORMAT please see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/653/01/ for what should be contained in a professional letter.
Please see the attached documents:
Review the pdf “Nurse as Advocate” and read the case of Katy Adams.
One of the documents includes another student’s final assignment for reference, but please make my paper unique from the paper that is used as a sample. If you use similar non-medical issues please use different references. Please use APA 7.
Please contact me for any questions or concerns.
