Current thesis topic (In Between Life and death: Exploring the design potential of Mycelium)
thesis is about reconfiguring what cemeteries are, through using mycelium as a material.
This thesis asks what mycelium might contribute to such a change. It investigates the possibilities of designing with mycelium across scales. It investigates the material potentials of mycelium blocks and panels to produce architectural components that range from temporary to almost-permanent. It explores the ability of mycelium in landscape design to facilitate decomposition, restoration of damaged soil, and ecological growth. And it explores what introducing mycelium to architecture might also do to how we imagine architectural program.
