Current thesis topic (In Between Life and death: Exploring the design potential of Mycelium)
thesis is about reconfiguring what cemeteries are, through using mycelium as a material.
This thesis asks what mycelium might contribute to such a change. It investigates the possibilities of designing with mycelium across scales. It investigates the material potentials of mycelium blocks and panels to produce architectural components that range from temporary to almost-permanent. It explores the ability of mycelium in landscape design to facilitate decomposition, restoration of damaged soil, and ecological growth. And it explores what introducing mycelium to architecture might also do to how we imagine architectural program.
momentary benches around the burial slots to allow grieving in the burial slots
mycelium bricks that protect the sapling that is placed during burial process. the saplings are there to reforeating the land that was impacted by wildfires.
shared space for support, and sleeping areas
How to create a stong Nerrative? What I am looking for (each part can be a few sentences)
Enhanced thesis topic
What is mycelium, how has it been used already in nature, architecture, and in coffins.
nvestigating how mycelium can be beneficial in the built environment (soil, living organisms, removing toxins, providing nutrients)
How is mycelium produced
Diagrams on mycelium materilas decompose and grow(timeline)
Exploring mycelium through our understanding of cemeteries
The cemetery is exploring different temporalities
The grief Process
what grieving inviduals need
Process of healing
Create an appealing Ritual Process of the given program of cemetery (using mycelium coffins, planting trees in each burial slot to improve the land that was impacted by wildfire, having wlecome center, garden for meditation, dwelling units for support) a story that is captivating
Zooming out : In time, how can the cemetery move to the next forest fire
