Select a relationship from a book, TV show, or movie to analyze. This may be a romantic relationship, friendship, or family relationship. Provide some background information about the relationship (e.g., type of relationship, length of the relationship, brief description of the people involved, etc.). Select three concepts from class readings or lectures that are relevant to the relationship being analyzed. Define and explain each concept. Your explanation should be clear enough for a naive reader to understand. Provide at least two specific examples from the relationship that illustrate each concept. Clearly explain how they are examples of these concepts. Discuss the competence of the relationship partners. What competent behaviors do they engage in, and what advice would you give them to help them become more competent communicators? Refer back to the standards for assessing competence discussed in Module 1

Select
a relationship from a book, TV show, or movie to analyze. This may be a
romantic relationship, friendship, or family relationship. DO NOT use a
personal example! Provide some
background information about the relationship (e.g., type of relationship,
length of the relationship, brief description of the people involved, etc.).
Select three concepts from class readings or lectures that
are relevant to the relationship being analyzed. Define and explain each
concept. Your explanation should be clear enough for a naive reader to
understand. Provide at least two specific examples from the relationship that
illustrate each concept. Clearly explain how they are examples of these
concepts. Your examples MUST apply to the relationship you are analyzing.
Finally, discuss the competence of the relationship partners. What competent
behaviors do they engage in, and what advice would you give them to help them
become more competent communicators? You
