Text:
Think of a current or past supervisor or manager.
Did that person focus on
processes or people? What values did they exhibit?
In your department or area,
what issues or successes resulted from their focus and values?
How did those successes or
issues affect other departments or areas?
Did that person exhibit
leadership?
If so, what did they do?
If not, what could they
have done?
Jimmy’s answer
The current supervisor that I have understands the
importance of the processes of the facility’s needs and wants but tends to
focus more on her employees. She comes and checks on her employees to ensure
that the units are running smoothly and if we need her assistance with
anything. She takes the time to get to know her employees and their families.
She wants our opinions and ideas on how to improve how the units are run. She
always includes her staff in new policies and asks for our opinions or what
they could improve upon. She values family and personal time and always ensures
that her employees get their approved vacation time off. The employees that she
supervises have stronger work ethics because our supervisor will always support
us during a time of need. Morale is high and her employees are willing to
go above and beyond for her, which is a benefit to the units because the
clientele we work with get the best customer service. She exhibits leadership
by always respecting her employees and treating them as equals.
