Assignment Guidelines
Write a 5 page double spaced research paper plus bibliography.
Choose a citation style (MLA, APA…) and be consistent throughout your paper.
The following structure and concepts are suggested (you can also make an outline to
help you):
Introduction
Presenting your topic. Write about a specific topic that you are able to develop in a 5 page
paper, with data you will
unpack in the later section of this paper (a case, excerpt from
interview, an online post, your choice). State your thesis statement (what question are you
trying to answer with this research?). Summarize some of the concepts you will use. I would
encourage you to use the concepts of intersectionality, gender, sexuality and feminism.
Express also how specific you will be about them (examples are cyberfeminism, black queer
theory, testimonio, first generation experiences, etc). Along those concepts, cite the authors
from where those concepts are coming.
Body
Presenting and discussing the data. In this section, you will summarize, describe or any other
form of writing that will give the reader a sense of your evidence to illustrate your point, your
research question, your topic of interest. Give the reader something to work with, don’t be so
general that the reader has to work to figure it out what the evidence is.
You will also connect the data you have shown to the concepts we have learned in class and
also the ones that you will bring to the discussion within intersectional feminist lenses.
Conclusion
Reconnect with your thesis here, show how your discussion illustrates it and tell us what your
findings were, what you’ve learned from this work.
